Crunchyroll has another original on the way, “Onyx Equinox” a mix of “The Last Air Bender” and “Avatar” made exclusively for mature audiences. The anime streaming giant is no stranger to dark and violent shows, releasing original anime like Goblin Slayer and “The God Of High School.” Onyx Equinox only adds to Crunchyroll’s bloody-unique intellectual property.
Clearly the above warning should let you know you’re about to witness a few graphic-scenes. We’d compare them to scenes from Goblin Slayer, they aren’t too bad but not exactly child-friendly.
Quick synopsis of Onyx Equinox:
Onyx Equinox follows a young Aztec boy named Izel who is saved from death by the gods and is chosen to act as ‘humanity’s champion,’ forced to discard his apathy toward his fellow man and prove humanity’s potential on a journey that will take him across ancient Mesoamerica.
Sofia Alexandra is the writer and artist with Crunchyroll Studios and Tiger Animation supporting in animation and distribution. While not much is known about Sofia Alexandra her IMDB profile did reveal some interesting shows she’s worked on in the past.
Clearly her passion project is nothing like “The Powerpuff Girls” or “Infinity Train”… Onyx Equinox is due out on the Crunchyroll streaming platform November 21, 2020.
